Floor Technician

Job Title: Floor Technician

Department: Maintenance Department

Job Summary:

The Floor Technician is responsible for the maintenance, cleaning, and preservation of all floor surfaces within a hotel. This includes carpet, tile, vinyl, concrete, and hardwood flooring. The ideal candidate will have experience using floor care equipment and knowledge of cleaning chemicals and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sweep, mop, scrub, strip, wax, and buff all types of hard floor surfaces.
  • Vacuum, shampoo, and extract carpets using appropriate equipment and cleaning agents.
  • Operate and maintain floor care machinery such as buffers, auto scrubbers, extractors, and burnishers.
  • Identify and report any maintenance or safety issues with flooring or equipment.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including proper handling and storage of chemicals.
  • Maintain equipment in clean and good working condition.
  • Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas and meet quality standards.
  • Work collaboratively with housekeeping and maintenance teams.
  • Respond to emergency cleaning needs such as spills or biohazards.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a floor technician or in janitorial work is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of floor care techniques, materials, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Must be reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, nights, weekends, or holidays.

Physical requirements:

  • This is a physically demanding position; applicants must be in good physical condition. If there is a physical concern, an employment physical may be required.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, and use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
  • Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Constantly required to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • This job will require lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs and may require occasional lifting and/or moving up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Occasionally required to push and/or pull 100+ lbs. with assistance.
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Frequently required to talk or hear.

This is a full-time position, and as such, hours and days to work WILL fluctuate up to and including weekends and holidays.
